Tasted blind at Farr Vintner’s Left Bank tasting. Wow. Where did this come from? The Meyney ’03 was not one of the better Saint Estephes in its youth, but it is certainly blossoming with age. It has a very bold, lifted bouquet with damson, plum, cedar and pinecone aromas. Moderate definition, perhaps showing a little over-ripeness. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, the tannins a little aggressive but there is more than enough fruit concentration to back it up. Rigid backbone on the finish with an agreeable degree of freshness. Tasted October 2010
